Open Access funding and discount information

Before submitting a paper to IJBNPA, we invite authors to check out their options for waivers and discounts in one of the following ways:

1.      Visit the membership page to see if the publication fee is fully or partially covered by an institutional membership.

2.      If you are a member of the International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA) you are eligible for a 50%-off discount. At submission, members should first agree to the article processing charge and later will have the opportunity to apply the 50% reduction of the article processing charge, once their manuscript has been accepted for publication in the journal. Upon editorial acceptance of your manuscript, you will be invited to complete the Publishing Agreement. At the step of the publishing agreement titled “Journal partners” you can check a box indicating that you believe you are covered by a society sponsorship from ISBNPA and submit this request for approval. If eligible, we will approve your APC discount.

Interested in becoming a member? Please visit the ISBNPA website at: ISBNPA – Advancing Behavior Change Science.

3.      Visit the Open access agreement page to see if you are covered by any compact deals.

4.     Visit the Open access funding and policy page to get advice on finding and applying for open-access funding.

5.      Request for regional waivers if you are based in low- or middle-income countries. Such requests should be made via the Editorial Manager system during the submission process by selecting “I want to learn more about Springer Nature’s waivers and discount or waiver policies”.

6.      Contact the Publishing editor Elliot Cox (elliot.cox@biomedcentral.com) for discretionary waiver requests.

IJBNPA has a limited number of waivers available to support authors every calendar year. Requests will be evaluated case-by-case and granted on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Aims and scope

International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity (IJBNPA) is an open access, peer-reviewed journal offering high quality articles, rapid publication and wide diffusion in the public domain.

IJBNPA is devoted to furthering the understanding of the behavioral aspects of diet and physical activity and is unique in its inclusion of multiple levels of analysis (including populations, groups and individuals) and its inclusion of epidemiology, behavioral, theoretical and measurement research areas.  IJBNPA prioritises research based on randomised controlled trials (RCTs), systematic reviews (with or without meta-analyses, as appropriate), and observational studies that feature a temporal dimension. IJBNPA will also review other study designs, such as strong or ground-breaking methodological papers, rigorous qualitative studies, debate papers, and commentaries. IJBNPA publishes pilot studies only in exceptional circumstances and it does not publish protocol papers or letters to the editors.
